311 Concert

Saw 311 at the in Asheville on Tuesday - Great concert... I didn't get much video so I edited it together best I could.

Let me elaborate on that - no cameras allowed and they were patting people down at the door.... I was too lazy to take my camera back to the car, so I did what any rational lazy person would do - I stuffed it under my sack.

Smuggled that puppy in and I was set to go. I really kept the camera in my pocket for most of the concert, I wasn't planning on getting too much. Just enough to show how close to the stage I was.

The venue was very cool, it was about half the size of my old high school gym. That, topped with no opening band made for a great night.

Le MVP

After watching the 60 minute special on James, I'm even more impressed with the ideas that the 6'9 260 SF/ Man child has to bring into the world. Marketing himself as a product, James has now become the 3rd most profitable athlete at the age of 24, behind Tiger and David Beckham, this is some feat. That 60 min article showed some of the things he markets himself into, asking the reporting, "want to buy in"? From Sports Illustrated, to ESPN, to VOGUE, King James is showing up everywhere. And with this being hes best season yet the Cavs could have the best record in the NBA, and be headed to the Finals again, this time to come back with the ring, to bring back to Akron, OH, homes of James.

Why Question Big Ben?

Ben Roethlisberger stated last Monday that he played in Super Bowl with fractured ribs.

According to SI.com, Roethlisberger said his fractured ribs did not show up on X-rays taken before he led the Steelers to a 27-23 win over Arizona on Feb. 1, but were revealed only during an MRI test he had last week.

Roethlisberger was on the injury report as having a "back injury" for the whole week prior to the Super Bowl. Who knows - maybe the docs saw minor rib fractures in the MRI near his back. He only said he played with fractured ribs, he didn't really disclose whether or not these were serious fractures.

Lets say your quarterback has ribs that are bothering him - in a huge game like this, you don't want the other team to know that and make him the prime target. I wouldn't doubt for a second that the team played the injury down. Think about it - the man was sacked 46 times in the 2008 season. Hell, he's been sacked an average of 46 times per season, over the last 3 years. He's bound to have some rib problems.

Ben has been known to play up his injuries in the past - there are only two instances that I know of, a broken thumb and broken toes.

So is he playing up his rib injury? Who gives a crap? We won the Super Bowl :)

I find no reason to doubt him, the man was in a serious motorcycle accident without a helmet. The result was a broken upper and lower jaw and other "facial fractures"

According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Roethlisberger flew into the Chrysler's windshield and then hit the ground head first. Blood pooled around him on the pavement, the paper said.
- from an ESPN article

Police sources have indicated that Roethlisberger suffered fractures to the jaw and right sinus cavity, as well as a nine-inch laceration to the back of the head, the loss of two teeth, and several chipped teeth. His facial injuries were severe enough that witnesses on the scene did not immediately recognize him, even after he identified himself as "Ben"....
-Wikipedia

The accident occured in mid-June and he was back to play the first 3 pre-season games that year. He did miss the season opener - due to an emergency appendectomy(removal of the appendix), but was back in to play the following Monday night game. Is that tough enough for you?

I don't care what injuries he plays up, the man is tough as nails and there's plenty of proof to show it. He's a man's man - he has sandwiches named after him, he likes to s**t with the door open, go on riverboat gambling trips, and he makes his own beef jerky.

Okay - I don't know about the first two, but the guy does have his own line of Beef Jerky.

Does that sound like the kind of guy that would lie?

Apple to launch $800 laptop?

The Inquisitr reports:

Some Apple retailers in the United States have been given price lists for a new Apple laptop line, and there’s a big surprise: an $800 laptop. The information comes from a source we would categorize as reliable, would have access to such information, and who has been accurate in the past.

PSP Dual Shock Compatibility Confirmed

It looks like the rumors were true, kind of. Sony has Dual Shock for the PSP in the works.

JoyStiq reports:

One of Sony's upcoming PSP games, Resistance Retribution, will utilize a newly developed technology called "PSP Plus." The feature will allow players of Retribution to connect their systems to the PS3, in order to enable use of PS3 wireless controllers. Using the DualShock will enable dual-analog control in the game. In addition, rumble will be supported. This potential use of connectivity was hinted at in a patent filed over a year ago.

Other games may be able to potentially utilize PSP Plus -- however, it is currently a Retribution-only tech.

At least Sony is acknowledging the fact that a second "stick" is needed. Its not exactly what we were hoping, but its a step in the right direction.

I'm pumped :) I'll still be adding that second nub to my PSP though. When/IF I get the time to complete that mod, I'll post it.

Halo 3 Recon Trailer!

Featuring exclusive multiplayer maps, Forge items and four player co-op as well as saved films, screenshot capability and campaign scoring; Halo 3 Recon is sure to light up Xbox 360's when it releases in Fall 2009.

Robber Users Craigslist To Aid Getaway

And this actually worked....

The robber posted a help wanted ad on Craigslist - asking for workers for a construction job. They were told to show up wearing a "yellow vest, safety goggles, a respirator mask ... and, if possible, a blue shirt" - and that they would be paid $28.50 an hour.

A dozen or so people responded to the ad, showing up near the Bank of America around 11 am - as instructed. At that time, the robber - dressed in the same manner - maced an armored car guard and booked it with a bag of cash.

A witness said he saw the man float away on an inner tube at a nearby creek....

WTF. That has to be either the most genious - or most retarded plan I've ever heard. It worked, and he got away on a friggin inner tube.....

[via InformationWeek]

Busy, Busy, Busy....

Well, I've fallen behind in posting - fooooo shoooooo....

I have 30+ pages bookmarked for potential items to post - I've just been so friggin busy as of late.

I'll get back to it soon. Really, I will.
