Dell's entry to the "netbook" race is said to be released September 4th. For those of you unaware of the netbook trend - just do a google on Asus Eee PC. That's the netbook that started it all.
Its basically a tiny laptop that usually runs a custom version of linux or windows xp and would be used primarily for surfing the web and playing music along with other simple tasks. Awesome solution for students on a budget or those of us that want a decent machine to blog on while on the toilet.
The details aren't concrete (until tomorrow) but it's rumored to be around $199 and has the following specs:
- 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor
- 512MB - 1GB of Ram
- 8.9" WSVGA screen (1024 x 600)
- 3 USB Ports
- Wi-Fi
- Integrated web-cam
- Weighs only 2.2 lbs
